I am most definitely a “type A” personality. I like to get things done quickly. Now it isn’t that I don’t enjoy “down time”; I do. But when I am working I want things moving ahead.
What’s the problem with that? Well, sometimes the thing I need to do most is wait. I need to be still and silent and wait on the Lord to make clear the next step, to provide the resources needed, and to understand His Will fully before I move ahead.
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
One of my biggest strengths can also be a tremendous obstacle to following God. I like to be “in control.” I make a plan and go full speed ahead. I am focused and want things to go according to plan. Well that isn’t how life, business or projects always work. I am able to guide, influence, and direct, and I can manage people and resources. I can set a pace and make a plan. But for things to ultimately get done, others have to follow and I must follow the path that the Lord sets for me. Whatever I achieve is because of Christ and what He has blessed me with: talents, skills, and abilities; friends, family, and co-workers; time, money, and other resources; all things that I have and need come from Him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
If I want to be successful, I must have faith and keep God’s commandments. Success will come in many guises, both spiritual and physical. To serve the Lord requires me to submit my will to Him and commit to His Ways. From my position before the Lord, I can lead and succeed bringing in glory to Him and guiding others to Him through example. I will not always get it right, for I am human. But I willingly follow and continue working on faith each day.
