God is bigger than most people think. I know that He is bigger than any issue any of us can ever have. If I want to accomplish great things, then I must realize that I am but a small part, as God is the Greatest part. For the world to change, I must do my small part and submit to God’s will. I am to lift Him up in all that I do. All that I do must be done for the glory of God.

John 3:30 (KJV 1900)

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

Proverbs 4:23 (KJV 1900)

23  Keep thy heart with all diligence;

For out of it are the issues of life.

In the wake of a hurricane like Sandy that struck the East Coast of the United States, we realize how small and fragile our lives are. Things disappear: they’re stolen, destroyed, and turned to rubble. Lives are fleeting, but souls are everlasting. When everything is stripped away, where shall we turn? To God! We need not rely on our own strength or understanding. We can cry out to Him and know He is there.

Proverbs 3:5 (KJV 1900)

5  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;

And lean not unto thine own understanding.

Matthew 6:19–20 (KJV 1900)

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Our prayers go out to those impacted by disaster, whether natural or man-made. If you are struggling, reach out to God, your church and your community. If you are safe and have something to share, reach out to those who are in need, to at least lend a hand, an ear, and your support. Do what you can to help and honor God through your service.
