In this world it is easy to be weighed down by the noise of life. The news on a daily basis is enough to disturb our hearts and minds. Wars and rumors of wars abound. Our schedules, our commitments, and every other aspect of our lives rarely will give us a moment’s peace.

Yet as professing Christians saved and anointed by Christ’s gift of salvation and grace, through our faith we have the ultimate peace that can take us through any of life’s challenges or turmoil.  Romans 5:1 – 2 (NIV) states “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into the grace which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”

Many of us may have been led to believe that as Christians all our problems and all of life’s difficulties fall away when we accept Christ into our hearts. This is true … one day. But that time is not here, not now and not on this Earth as we know it. Life will still have disappointments. People will give us a hard time, often more so after we become a new person in Christ. When we live for Christ we may find ourselves with more problems, temptations, and obstacles. Why? In part because God loves us.

You may wonder how God’s love would bring hard times to us. In the moment we accept Christ as our Savior we are changed and become “new creatures.” But it takes a lifetime to conform us to who God would have us to be. So He works on us and refines us through the events of our daily lives.

Romans 5:3–5 (NKJV)
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

If the demands of this world are pulling at you, remember to take time out to spend with God and you will find the peace you are missing.

1 Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)
3 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
