Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

The world is divided, but not the way we commonly think; the division isn’t between the the “right” or “left” in politics. It is not about being “conservative” or “liberal.” Where we stand and what we believe in this world is about believing in God or being a non-believer. It is about following the ways of God, or the ways of the world.

In this age of politics (okay, politics have been around almost since the fall of man) there are many politicians who seem to think lying during a campaign—or any time— to get elected or to support “their party” is okay. It is important to realize how lies separate us from God. Any lie separates us from God, including “white” lies and “lies for a good cause.” Even lies to protect those we love and their feelings are not acceptable in God’s eyes. Lying is a sin.

As we live, work, and vote, it is important to realize that what is acceptable, usual, and customary may not and most of the time is not acceptable to God. If you have any doubt about what is acceptable in the eyes of God, turn to His Word as the final arbitrator of right and wrong.

If you hear a voice telling you, “no, that isn’t right, don’t do it” then you know it is time to pray for guidance, strength and clarity. Whatever you are doing, do what is right. It may seem “easier” to go right or left; it may be “easier” to tell a “little white lie,” but that is what the Deceiver, Satan wants us to believe. Truth is with God and we know where to find it … listen to the voice of God and stay on God’s Path.
