The Bible talks to us about many things and on many different levels. In some parts of the Bible the reference to East and West indicate not physical directions, but spiritual choices. In my recent studies with various Biblical scholars of different faiths and perspectives, the “obvious” is not what we should be focused on. Today we need to understand that the “obvious choices” we can make in our lives and businesses may be the wrong direction when it comes to God’s plan for us. Today examine your options and your choices and make sure that what you are doing, the direction you are going is the one God would choose for you.
Hosea 12:1 (NKJV)
“Ephraim feeds on the wind,
And pursues the east wind;
He daily increases lies and desolation.
Also they make a covenant with the Assyrians,
And oil is carried to Egypt.
Hosea 13:15 (NKJV)
Though he is fruitful among his brethren,
An east wind shall come;
The wind of the Lord shall come up from the wilderness.
Then his spring shall become dry,
And his fountain shall be dried up.
He shall plunder the treasury of every desirable prize.
If we are not walking in the will of God and instead are walking in the ways of the world, we will find that our “success” is empty, no matter what success we have. We will find that all we have is easily lost to the world. What we store up in heaven by following God closely in all that we do, will endure forever!
Matthew 6:19–22 (KJV 1900)
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
God may bless those who follow Him with the responsibility of having “much,” but those blessings will never come when we walk in the ways of the world and not in those of the Lord.
