2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
I read this verse this week; with all that our country and the world is going through these words seemed historic, prophetic and current. Our land (world) is in turmoil. Israel is once more facing existential challenges and the United States is too. Will we stand as a people and a nation FOR God and His People (Israel) or will we fall turning against God and His Ways? Will we give up our freedom and be carried into captivity? Will we accept dishonest leaders and ways or will we turn our leaders back to God with our actions?
The conflicts and controversies, the uncertainties of how the United States will move forward as nation challenges not our faith, but our execution of our faith. God’s word is enduring and is the Truth. If we look at history, what we do not know, acknowledge or understand we are doomed to repeat. A proud, rebellious and unrepentant people cannot stand. Envy, greed, and “prevailing wisdom” will lead humanity down the same historic path into obscurity blazed by previous nation-states.
Businesses and their leaders can also get caught up in pride and doing things “our own way” (notice I said “our”). As a business owner it is often tempting to just do things “my way”: it is often easier and less complicated. But the lesson I have learned over the past 10 years as a Christian Business Owner, the easier way is an illusion. In running my business with God’s guidance, there’s one only way to do things, only one path to take, and only thing I must do: Submit. I need help every day from God to do the right things and do them His way.
Every day I have to call on God’s name, humble myself and pray for His Guidance, Grace, and Abundance. He has changed my heart and my ways. I pray that as individuals, as a nation, as a people we will all turn to Him today and let Him change our hearts, our lives, and our businesses. I pray that Lord will change our hearts and heal our land.
