Author Jean A. Costa joined me in the studio to discuss her new book: Choosing Your Words, Crafting Your Life.
Jean is a former high school math teacher with a BA from St. John’s University in NYC and a Masters in Social Work from UNC, Chapel Hill.
She has practiced Yoga for over 40 years and received her Registered Yoga Teacher from Kripalu School of Yoga in 2007.
She is a breast cancer survivor and created the Pink Ribbon Yoga Retreat in 2005. The 13th retreat is in the planning stages.
Pink Ribbon Yoga Retreats host approximately 30 women each year for four days at the Trinity Center in Salter Path, NC.
Jean is also the chair emeritus of the advisory board of the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program and she sits on the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Advisory Board at Duke Medical.
In 2006, Jean began playing the fiddle. She says it is a fun but humbling practice.
Jean’s books have emerged from her daily practice of journaling daily, which she has been doing for the last 30 years.
She leads workshops on Creating Positive Affirmations and on developing creativity and is a frequent speaker on the subject.
