Know Where You Want To Go and What It Will Take To Get There

With a destination in mind (strategic objective and plan) and an understanding of where you are (current state analysis), it is time to identify what you have and don't have in your organization that is needed to achieve your vision for your organization. The difference between today's organization and the core abilities and structure it needs to become to achieve the vision for the business is what you need to determine. 

GAP Analysis

The difference between the structure, people, and processes/systems of the business you must become to achieve your strategic objective and how your organization is today is the GAP you need to identify.  This gap spans every aspect of the organization - accounting, finance, marketing, sales, operations, logistics, distribution, procurement, systems, and so on.

Comprehensive Approach

The complete picture is important to achieving the desired result.
