Board Services

Companies of all stages, public and private, are under scrutiny and pressure to make sure that the business is being operated with the best financial and managerial controls.  The external director and/or advisor plays an important role in this oversight process.

Independence

External, unrelated advisors provide an objective perspective on the actions (and inaction) of the business, its leadership, strategies, and how money is handled.  The importance of having board members that are independent from the other stakeholders can't be overemphasized.  It is the independent board member that can be the lone voice pointing out the potential risks, options, and issues a business is facing.

Recognized Credentials and Experience

The role of an independent, credentialed, experienced board member that understands the financial perspective - reporting, audit, control systems, etc. - is a critical one for every business.  The skill, experience, and education requirements handed down in the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation holds true for organizations looking for a well-qualified board member. These requirements include: advanced education in accounting/finance, experience in audit and leading accounting/finance activities, knowledge of accounting and other regulations for reporting, and other requirements.
