Out of The Cubicle and Into Business
114 Questions to Answer Before You Make the Move from a Corporate or University Job into Your Own Business!

Leadership is critical to success.

Leadership is taking a strategic, long term view of where you want the business to go.  It is about recognizing the importance of day-to-day activities being prioritized and aligned toward that long term goal.

Leadership requires management, but management isn't leadership.

Leaders are managers, but not all managers are leaders.  Leadership requires the ability to envision what the future looks like, to define an objective, and to guide the organization toward that future.

Leadership includes vision, planning, priorities, and action.

Leadership requires an ability to get others to see the vision, believe in it, and support the activities that it takes to achieve it.

Leadership often means making decisions that lessen the return today, to maximize the results tomorrow.

Leadership includes integrity of purpose, action, and result.

Leadership requires strategy and structure to support the vision.

Strategy must be executable by the organization or it is meaningless.

Strategy is long term focused and recognizes the need to evolve the organization to achieve the vision.

Strategy that isn't properly supported by the right business structure (people, processes, systems) cannot  be executed.

Structure is designed with the vision and strategy in mind.

Today's structure isn't tomorrows. All things change with time and vision.
